PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – No breakfast will be served at a Port Richmond IHOP this morning because of a small but suspicious fire early Monday morning. Clean-up and repair will get underway later this morning, but fire sprinklers prevented any major building damage.
The tiny blaze was discovered just before 1 a.m. and was declared out six minutes later. Fire officials say the building’s sprinkler system kicked in and the fire was essentially put-out by the time they arrived.
There was no major damage and no injuries, but the fire appears to have been intentionally set by burglars.
The fire marshal has been called in to investigate. There’s no word yet on whether anything was taken from the restaurant.
